Crusty Beef Casserole

1Kg Beef, Blade or Think Flank, or Gravy Beef;
3 tbsp flour
1 1/2 tsp Sugar
1 tsp Salt
3/4 tsp Dry Mustard
1/2 tsp Baking Soda
1 1/2 tbsp Worcester sauce
1 1/2 tbsp Vinegar
1 1/2 cups Tomato Juice
1/2 cup Water or Wine

Cut Beef into 6/4 cm cubes & place in a casserole dish. In a bowl mix all the ingredients and pour over beef and close tightly

Bake at 160 for 2 hours

Crusty Topping

French bred cut into 1 Cm Slices
25G of Soft Butter
1 clove of Garlic crushed
1 tbsp French Mixed Mustard
Chopped Chives, Garlic Chives or Parsley

Combine Butter, Garlic, and Mustard & Herbs, spread on one side of each bread slice, and cover top of casserole, with buttered side up. Press firmly down to soak up juices and return uncovered to oven at 200 for about 10 minutes or until bread is crisp.
Serves 6 to 8
